Elise was combing her blonde hair with her fingers, but froze when she heard soft footsteps nearby. She whipped her head around, but nothing met her light blue gaze.
"Rose?" she called out again, her voice cracking. "Is that you?" These woods made her nervous and jumpy even during the day; who knew where a dangerous animal could be hiding? Maybe a mile away trying to follow your scent, or maybe behind the tree right next to you.
Elise got up and brushed off her tunic. She glanced around, though still saw nothing but the usual: trees, birds, undergrowth, and the pond. There was no strange smell like that of a fox or a bear, so she began to calm down. But she could still hear the footsteps, and now began to wonder if it was a person. Then it must be Rose, she thought gratefully. She's coming back. Although...what if it wasn't her sister? What if was someone else? Someone...bad?
"BOO!!"
Elise screamed and whirled around - only to see a bedraggled Rose looking at her mischievously from the bushes. She heaved a sigh of relief and narrowed her eyes, glaring through slits at the other girl.
"Thanks a lot, Rose," she growled. "You scared me half to death!" She scanned the ground with purposely fake observation. "Oh, good. I didn't puke up my stomach."
She was aware that she could be a tad too dramatic...
"Where were you, anyway?" she asked. Rose hadn't brought with her any food, so where had she wandered off to?

((That's "off," not "of." Hehe, I'm picky. ^^ ) Rose ignored Elise's question and stuck out her tongue. "I scared youuuu!" she sang, dancing around teasingly. "Answer the question!" Elise snapped. ((Is it okay for her to do that, Molly-chan?)) Rose shrugged. "I go on a walk every day, you just usually oversleep so you don't see me." She hadn't gotten a single step forward before she was caught by Elise's glare. She always knew when Rose was hiding something, and she wasn't satisfied. ((Again, is that okay?)) "Okay, okay, fine," Rose sighed. "I had a creepy dream is all. Grandma was standing next to me, whispering this blah-blah nonsense about the full moon and stuff. Then she ran off into the forest and I saw this huge splash of blood come out of the trees." She tried and failed to keep her voice light, but continued nevertheless. "So when I woke up, I sorta forgot that I wasn't still dreaming, so I went to follow her. And, yeah." She took a deep breath and looked at her sister, hazel meeting blue, and awaited her reaction.

((Oh, I didn't mean to write that. Modification! *ta-da!* xD And yes, it's okay for Elise to have done those two things. Haha.))
Rose just stuck out her tongue, singing out tauntingly, "I scared youuuu!"
Elise crossed her arms. "Answer the question!" she demanded.
Rose didn't seem the slightest bit phased by her sister's anger, shrugging her shoulders casually. "I go on a walk every day, you just usually oversleep so you don't see me."
It seemed like a legitimate answer - or rather, a legitimate excuse. Elise glared, causing Rose to tell her the whole truth.
"Okay, okay, fine," she finally sighed. "I had a creepy dream is all. Grandma was standing next to me, whispering this blah-blah nonsense about the full moon and stuff. Then she ran off into the forest and I saw this huge splash of blood come out of the trees. So when I woke up, I sorta forgot that I wasn't still dreaming, so I went to follow her. And, yeah."
Elise was intrigued, and a bit frightened; Rose had never told her about having dreams like this before. Not ever. What had suddenly caused the nightmare to occur?
"What...what did she say to you?" Elise asked. She tried to sound calm, as if she didn't truly care, but her voice came as a weak whisper. She didn't honestly know why she was so interested in what her old, dead grandmother had babbled to Rose in a dream, but she was pressed to ask.

"Like I said, blah-blah nonsense," Rose said, laughing nervously. "Just...nonsense."

Elise suddenly became suspicious of her sister's shrouded answers. She put her hands on her hips, staring at Rose for a long moment.
"What did she really say to you?" she demanded. ((I know, I used that twice, but I couldn't think of anything better-sounding. D=))

Rose sighed heavily and put her hands over her ears, as she usually did when she didn't want to hear herself talk. She then recited her grandmother's speech word for word. "When the full moon shines and the stars are bright, look to the sky and breathe deep. The transformation is to begin at your age. Earn your smile, dear one, and sparkle in the night." She opened her eyes again and removed her hands. "See? Blah...blah...nonsense..." ((How 'bout this? Vampirism is an inherited gene in addition to a venom gotten from a bite. Ain't that cool?! ))

((Yesh, very cool! ^^ We'll use that.))
Elise just stared at Rose after she had finished repeating what Grandmother had said. She seemed to act like it was no big deal; that it was pure stupidity. But Elise didn't feel that way so much...
She sighed and tapped her foot, the way she always did when she was contemplating something. "Well, I think there's supposed to be a full moon tonight," she finally said. "Maybe we should find someplace open and see what happens."
((I'm gonna power-play for just a second. Sowwy!))
Rose was less than enthusiastic. "Why bother?" she grumbled.
"Because you had a remarkable dream from Grandma, and I think it was a message," Elise retorted hotly. "That's why we should bother with it!" She grabbed Rose's shoulders and gently shook her sister. "Don't you get it? Something's supposed to happen, and we have to be there and be ready for it."
She was aware of how idiotic she sounded, how far-fetched she was making just a silly dream out to be. But Elise had always loved fantasy as a young child, and even now, at fifteen, she wished there was some sort of magical realm that existed right outside your door. It was a foolish wish, and she realized that, but somewhere deep inside her was that little kid searching for fairies in the backyard.
(( ;D ))

Rose rolled her eyes. "Elise, it was a dream. Get over it. If it was a message, why would Grandma send it to me? You're the one who believes in bullshit like that." ((I get to powerplay now!)) Elise pouted and clasped her hands in front of her. "Please, please, please Rose? Just this once can we play along?" Rose moaned. She couldn't resist her sister when she cheated and used the sad face. "Fine, I guess. Tonight, we can make a raft and go out to the middle of the lake. ((I pictured our camp next to a lake in the forest.)) Then we can do all the breathing we want." Elise smiled weakly, causing Rose to realize that she'd hurt her feelings with the "bullnuts" comment. Rose suddenly burst into a random bubble of laughter--contagious laughter meant for Elise--to show that she hadn't meant any harm. "Lisa, you're like a little kid with a huge imagination," she teased lightly. "But you're my sister and you rock. So whether this is real or not, let's go play in the water!" ((Haha, sorry for the mushy speech. Except after I wrote "the bullnuts comment" I actually did feel bad in real life, so I tacked that on there just to make sure you didn't get all sad on me. ))

((Aw, man. I mean to say "bullsh*t," but it keeps changing it to "bullnuts!" Grrrr....))

((Haha. Never heard the word "bullnuts" before. xD And that's actually how I imagined our camp, too. In my first post I was trying to decide whether to write "pond" or "lake." I chose to make it a pond just since Elise was bathing and a smaller expanse of water seemed better for that, but we can use a lake instead now that she isn't bathing. Haha!))
Elise grinned and clapped childishly when Rose reluctantly agreed.
"Lisa, you're like a little kid with a huge imagination," Rose played. "But you're my sister and you rock. So whether this is real or not, let's go play in the water!"
She nodded and raced to the lakeshore. Slipping off her socks, she set two tentative feet into the cold shallows. The water skimmed her leggings, making the black around the bottoms of the pantlegs slightly deeper. She turned around and waved her arm in the air, beckoning her sister over.
"You know, maybe that's why Grandma sent the dream to you instead of me," she called from the water. "Because she wants you to believe just as much as I already do; I don't need to be taught to believe, but you certainly do." She smirked. "Now get in here!"

Rose put her hands on her hips. "Elise, it's eight in the morning. Do I have to go in the water now?"
((Is this okay?)) "Come on, you stick-in-the-mud," Elise laughed. "What would you rather do?"
Rose pinched her dirty shirt and wrinkled her nose. "Go shopping. I have some money stored in the tent, and I need new clothes. Sound good?"

((It's fine if you power-play a little, don't worry. =]))
Elise stepped out of the lake and pouted. "You were the one who said we should go play in the water!" she challenged. "Come on, you stick-in-the-mud. What would you rather do?"
Rose grabbed her shirt in two fingers and scrunched her nose up. "Go shopping," she replied. "I have some money stored in the tent, and I need new clothes. Sound good?"
A frown suddenly crossed Elise's mouth. She didn't want to go back into the town. Despite her dislike of the woods and the strange feelings it gave her, the last thing she wanted to do was risk being seen by their father out in public.
"Um..." She hesitated; the situation with their dad made her feel heavy-hearted. "Didn't we run away so we wouldn't have to live in the town? With...you know."
But she didn't wait for an answer from Rose, too afraid of where the conversation might lead to. She scooped up her socks and walked back over, slipping on her flipflops.
Elise stared at her sister. "I don't want to be scared," she said weakly. "I really don't. I wish that part of our life could just disappear forever...But I guess I'll have to put aside what I feel, because you're right." She looked Rose up and down, grinning. "You do need new clothes. Unlike you, I actually take the time to wash mine." Elise giggled and held up a fold of Rose's shirt. At one point it had been white, but now it was a dusty light brown.
She bent down and picked up her bag ((which is a pull-string bag that goes over her neck like an over-shoulder)). Pulling it open and reaching inside, she took her hand back out wielding a handful of money. "I think I'll get some supplies myself," she remarked, putting her meek wealth back inside the bag.
Elise slung the purse over her neck so the string rested on her left shoulder, then turned back to looking at Rose. "Shall we go, then?" she asked.

Rose stuck out her tongue. "I do SO wash my clothes. Sometimes. Now, let's go."
((Can we just skip to the part where we're on the lake? I don't like writing about shopping. It's boring.))

((Haha, sure.))
Elise rolled her eyes. No matter how hard Rose tried to seem as tough and strong as the boys, she knew her sister was just as nervous about her appearance as she herself was.
"I'm right behind ya," she replied as she began to follow Rose in the direction of the town.

((LAKE SCENE!))
Rose folded her arms tightly across her chest, sealing out the cold. Above her head, the full moon shone, a brilliant silver disc, and casted a whitish smear of color over her blonde head. The night had brought on an unexpected chill, and it only got colder after the twins had launched their wooden raft out into the center of the freezing water.
"It's frigid out here," she complained. "Can't I just go to bed?"
((Powerplay once again...)) "Oh, suck it up," Elise teased.
"Esta malo," Rose said in Spanish, just to bug her sister, who didn't speak a word of it. "La noche esta frio, y tengo descansada. Estas una diabla!" ((Haha, since we were talking about Spanish on AIM I just couldn't get it out of my head. xD Basically what I said was "It's bad. The night is freezing, and I'm tired. You're a devil!" I'm really pissed because it wouldn't let me add the much-needed accent marks, so it's not correct Spanish. Also, this is Textbook Spanish, so the Spanish people don't actually talk that stupidly...Dx))
